911 Fee Survey

In September 2009, the City of Sandy Springs launched its new 911 center, the Chattahoochee River 911 Authority. The State of Georgia gives jurisdictions the ability to assess up to a $1.50 fee per phone line (landline, mobile, and VoiP) per month to assist with the funding of location-based technology to ensure that emergency responders are dispatched to the correct location. Prior to September 1, 2009, these fees were remitted to Fulton County, since they provided the 911 call answering and emergency dispatching services.

Now that your City has opened 911 operations, we are entitled to receive the 911 fees you already pay to help support its operation. While the majority of the fees from Sandy Springs phone lines were redirected to the city, we are aware of several that have not. We are asking that you check your telephone bill (October 2009 or later) to ensure that the fee is being sent to Sandy Springs and complete one of the following brief surveys to provide us with the requested information.

Sample bills: AT&T | Comcast | SouthernLINCSprint/Nextel | T-Mobile | Verizon

The completion of Sandy Springs’ Traffic Management Center (TMC) played a role as staff was able to use the TMC to see what type of conditions existed on the streets and adjust changes along the whole corridor as compared to only seeing the timing from intersection to intersection upon a visual inspection.
